Individualized Education Plan

For my Individualized Education Plan, I learned how to use Keynote, the Apple equivalent of Microsoft Office's Powerpoint.

This project turned out to be the most difficult of all the projects we’ve done in our Educational Technology classes. I honestly could not think of a piece of technology that I needed to learn and could then implement in my classrooms. I really was interested in Promethean boards, but none were available to me for use; I had already learned how to use iMovie because of my Philosophy of Education and Digital Story projects; consequently, I had no access to any Adobe programs I would have liked to learn either. I realized, after having Word, Powerpoint, and Excel crash on me at inadvertent and terrible times, that I really needed to learn how to use Apple’s iWorks. My fiancĂ© had been telling me for years that I needed to make the transition, and that I would love it once I got used to it, but I stubbornly refused, intending to continue using my Mac Office. However, my Powerpoint presentation crashed one day while I was saving four hours’ worth of work for a lesson unit that I was using the next day. At that moment, the choice had been made for me.

My example of a Keynote presentation was based on my Rural Practicum with Shannon Hendricks in McGrath, Alaska. I created six lesson plans using Keynote in various ways, and the rest of my overall reflection of the experience can be located here.
