Fun/Interactive Website Resources for English teachers
- Although created for little ones, the grammar gorillas was a bit challenging if you’re not used to all the parts of speech – their examples and answers were spot on though, so for my 10th graders I wouldn’t be above having them practice recognizing parts of speech using this.
- This site is great! It gives you a plethora of handouts to use in your classes or modify to fit you needs, and the quizzes are all interactive, telling you if you got the right answer or not as soon as you check it (which would be a problem if you were trying for accuracy with your students and not just general understanding and comprehension in an effort to move to a higher level of Bloom’s once they can see how parts of a sentence can work together…)
- I love this site, and have gone to it for a few years now. If you’re an English teacher and want to find some of your favorite poems, possibly even read aloud by the poet him/herself, this is the site for you. I loved using it for my Harlem Renaissance unit, because I found Langston Hughes reading his poem aloud, and it gave the students a different perspective hearing him explain what inspired the poem and then reading the poem himself. They also give you a Poem-A-Day!
